UN News recently told the story of Stephane Kulimushi Mutanda, the young founder of Refugee Basketball Academy, ahead of World Refugee Day.
The feature follows a small idea that grew into an academy running practices, tournaments and mentoring sessions for refugee youth in Uganda. It notes that RBA has now trained more than 100 players and that seven young people have received scholarships through the programme.
It also highlights how the academy records videos of its players to help connect them with schools and other opportunities, and Stephane's hope of bringing RBA to other refugee communities and camps.
